Today was my first time delivering for a popular courier service. In my excitement I forgot so many things. I even received a phone call from the business saying the order wasn't paid for just as I was pulling up to the customer's home. I had to go all the way back. It was like The Universe was giving me a second chance. I cheerfully corrected my errors, contacted the customer and apologized for the delay and let them know I'd contact them once the issue was resolved and I was on my way. I kinda felt like a chicken with my head cut off because I'd had zero formal training (YouTube doesn't count) and I just hit the ground running. The great thing is the customer was really nice about it which reassured me that mistakes happen. And it's OK.
I was a little flustered as a result of the back and forth so I only made that delivery. Despite that drama, I remained in good spirits and spent the majority of the time laughing at myself. It was a great crash course on what NOT to do.
I'm happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone and dove in head first, not knowing what to expect or what to do exactly. I saw it as an adventure and boy, it was.
