FeliceSkye to Judge VerbQuake Youth Poetry Slam 2015

I am more than honored and ecstatic to be on the panel of judges for this year's VerbQuake Youth Poetry Slam April, 3rd, 4th, 11th & 18th. Some of the other judges this year include, PoetryNMotion, Robert Dillard, Bell Darris, El Thought, Milele Lott, Sevvy Sev, and Bella Words to name a few. The bouts will be held simultaneously at various locations in Old North St. Louis such as, 14th Street Artist Community, Old North Restoration Group, Zuka Arts Guild and UrbArts. For 2015, VerbQuake will serve 16 high schools, coach over 70 youth poets, and host performances for more than 1,000 teens and will mirror national competition in structure. Four teams will advance to the grand slam and vie for a championship. The winning high school team will represent the St. Louis region at Brave New Voices in Atlanta, July 2015.

I hope to see you in the upcoming bouts. The Youth need the support of an audience to hear their work and gain the confidence they need to compete nationally. We've got some pretty talented youth in STL that we can look to for examples of love and change and I look forward to seeing them do big things in the world.
